PRE AND POST NATAL
Resistance and fitness training helps to strengthen the body to stand up to the increased demands of pregnancy and child birth.
During pregnancy, hormone changes promote flexibility in the joints and muscles, and as a consequence care must take care to not strain muscles and ligaments. Controlled resistance and fitness training during pregnancy leads to easier labour and a faster return to fitness and your pre-pregnancy body.
Returning to exercise post pregnancy depends on your fitness levels and it is important to listen and understand your body, in addition to receiving medical clearance. Controlled resistance training and in particular, practising Pilates, is the safest and most effective way to define your core abdominals and improve your posture; posture which is adversely affected from carrying and feeding your child. You can return to training in as little as 2-6 weeks after the birth, and take part in a personalised programme.
With extensive experience with pre and post-natal clients, I can help design a safe and effective programme that puts you and your baby’s safety first, and post-natal bring you back to your previous levels of fitness again with your safety as paramount.
